As official witnesses to the conferring of degrees faculty play a vital role in the success of the ceremony.
Faculty may participate either as members of the academic procession or as marshals involved in directing graduates during the ceremony.
Faculty marshals are involved in every aspect of the commencement process, from the opening procession and seating of candidates to the concluding recessional. Their participation is critical to the ceremony’s success. If you are interested in becoming a marshal, please email commencement@mst.edu.
Staff are invited to participate as commencement ambassadors. Our ambassadors help guests to their seats, answer questions, guide graduates and maintain a positive atmosphere for families and friends of graduates. Volunteering is a great opportunity to celebrate with students, take one last photo and say farewell as they depart.
All faculty members are encouraged to participate in the academic processional for one or more of the commencement ceremonies. Participants in the academic processionals must wear academic attire. Faculty should arrive no later than 45 minutes before each ceremony’s start time in the aerobics room of Gale Bullman Building.
Faculty who take part in the commencement ceremony will need to wear their academic regalia. Faculty commencement rental regalia orders are due Nov. 13, 2024. Regalia sets will come with a gown, cap and tassel. Let the store know if you have your own hood. Regalia will be available for pick up the week leading up to commencement. Payment is due at the time of pickup.
Come and share the joy as our graduates and their families celebrate this culminating event. You’re invited to join the celebration by volunteering as a commencement ambassador. Commencement ambassadors will help guests to their seats, answer questions, guide graduates and maintain a positive atmosphere for families and friends of graduates.
